Model S sedan by Tesla and Toyota
It was lately confirm that California electric car manufacturer Tesla would be running with Japanese vehicle manufacturer Toyota to manufacture the Tesla Model S sedan, a high end electric car.
For individuals not existing on their electric car information, Tesla was incorporated in 2003 and is famous for manufacturing high power-driven electric sports cars. In 2010 Tesla Roadster shows off a 0-60 time of around 4 seconds, with a range of 250 miles between charges.
Toyota will spend $50 million on Tesla in return for tax abatement from the state of California. The tax abatement will be $20 million.
The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, who also work for PayPal and SpaceX calculate approximately that the construction of Model S sedan will employee almost 1,000 workers. Construction will take place at NUMMI, the previous Toyota / GM auto plant that was stopped in April firing thousand of employees jobless. The construction of Model S is going to start in 2012. The 2012 time period is not without cynic still, lot of people think one year and half is short time to repair the NUMMI auto plant. A spokesman for Tesla has confirmed that during the nastiest situation construction team might be on spot for twenty hours a day.
